Raj Rajaratnam found guilty of insider trading

Sri Lankan Raj Rajaratnam, founder of hedge fund The Galleon Group, was found guilty on 14 counts of insider trading and could face up to 15 years in jail when he is sentenced on July 29, reports Reuters. Ironically, Rajaratnam who was once feted for his philanthropy in supporting Tamils and those effected by the Tsunami of 2004 was charged by Indian New York Federal Prosecutor, Preet Bharara.

Seva Essay Competition - HASC Conference with a White House Briefing

Writers of the 75 best entries of an essay competition organised by Hindu American Seva Charities (HASC) will be invited to the White House for a briefing and conference July 29th to 31st 2011, as part of the President's Interfaith Challenge. Hindu American Seva Charities is sponsoring a two-day event aimed at increasing Seva (service) and visibility across America.

Sikh Coalition Files Second Lawsuit Against California Prison System

The Sikh Coalition has filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on behalf of Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Basra, a Sikh detainee, who suffered repeated disciplinary sanctions for keeping his religiously-mandated beard uncut. The lawsuit was filed in partnership with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Asian American Coalition Hall of Fame Awards 2010

The Asian American Coalition (AAC) USA recently hosted the Fourth Conglomeration of Asian American Cultures and Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony in New York which was attended by a number of dignitaries. At the awards the AAC representing 14 Asian countries inducted leaders of their respective communities to the Hall of Fame.
