Victory in ending Sikh Exclusion from the US Army

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of CaliforniaIn a surprise blow to the Sikh community, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger last night vetoed a bill that would educate law enforcement officers about Sikh articles of faith, including the kirpan. Indian homosexualsIn an historic judgment on Thursday, the Delhi High Court legalized homosexuality in India by reading down Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. The court ruled that Section 377, as it criminalizes gay sex among consenting adults, is a violation of fundamental rights. On Tuesday, a majority of the New York City Council called on the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) to end a policy requiring Sikh workers to brand their turbans with the MTA logo. 27 of the Council's 51 members are asking for this discrimination to end. read more read more
