Canadian Community Arts Initiative presents "Mosaic', the first South Asian Heritage Festival in the City of Mississauga from May 20th to 21st 2006. The festival is part of the South Asian Heritage month which pays tribute to the accomplishments of people of South Asian descent and the members of the South Asian community who continue to contribute to the social, cultural, economic and political life of the province of Ontario.

Mosaic aims to be a multidisciplinary arts festival that includes:

• A main stage will be exhibiting 40 performances show casing dancers, musicians, singers and other culturally unique artists;
• Youth bands from Mississauga, Brampton and other GTA cities will perform at the Amphitheatre Youth Stage;
• Performances by Kiran Ahluwalia, Lata Pada, Sohail Rana, Divya Kumar amongst many other talents will take place at Living Arts Centre;
• Into, Out of and Away, a multi media visual arts exhibition by South Asian artists will take place at Laidlaw Hall, Living Arts Centre.
• 30 marketplace vendors' showcasing exotic South Asian merchandise, clothes, jewelry, arts and crafts from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka and Indo Carribean;
• 10 food vendors demonstrating the exquisite art of South Asian cooking;

VISUAL ARTS

The visual arts component of Mosaic shall open on April 28, 2006 at 7:00pm in the Living Arts Centre with the opening of "Into, Out of and Away…", a four-week visual arts exhibition by Mississauga Artists. The opening reception will be held at Laidlaw Hall, Living Arts Centre, Mississauga on May 4th at 6:00pm.The exhibition shall be open to public every day between April 28 and May 28, 2006.

OUTDOOR FESTIVAL

May 20th & 21st, 2006 at Civic Court. The grounds open at 12:00 noon and close at 11:00pm. Free parking available and easy access by public transit.
