Indo-Asian News Service (22 March 2007)
The
peppy schoolgirl, complete with pleated skirt,
buckled shoes and the carefully careless tied
up hair, made a big comeback in designer Surily
Goel's collection "Symphony" at the
India Fashion Week here Thursday. Bollywood couple
Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's daughter Riddhima opened
the designer's show wearing a bright yellow pleated
dress and a brown jacket.
The
second day of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion
Week (WIFW), a major fashion event, showcased
a range of dresses, right from A-lines to trapeze
dresses, most of which had a strong hint of a
European look. "I love Surily's work and
am very comfortable wearing them. Hence I didn't
mind walking the ramp in her creation," said
Riddhima.

Subtle
and sans any bling, the collection was in
two main categories. The first line was
a mixture of lace, georgettes and self-textured
silks with velvet and canvas trimmings in
lemon, purple, pink and cream. The second
had garments in satin and jerseys with net
trimming in muted colours of khaki, pinkish
purple and black. Red and black shoes with
buckles completed the "fun" look.
"My
collection is a portrayal of who I am, a fun-loving person. It is
prêt, a ready-to-wear collection, hence there are lots of
jerseys, caps and tunics. Accordingly, the hair styling is also
very easy going with a carelessly done bun or a just clipped-up
look to complement the entire feel," Goel told IANS after the
show.
She
took two months to put together the collection. "The price
range begins at Rs.2,000 and will go up to Rs.12,000. One of the
jerseys or tops are for Rs.2,000," she added. Among the other
well-known faces at the show were Amitabh Bachchan's daughter Shweta
Bachchan and actor Pooja Bedi. Bedi said she was disappointed with
Goel's collection. "Her previous collections were so much better."
