Seema,
born in London into a family of five, appreciated quickly the challenges
faced by new communities and the need to build bridges across communities
as well as the need to recognise some traditions that needed to
be challenged in the Asian community. She has been active in the
political and community arena for over 20 years. At the age of 10
she stood as a Labour candidate in her primary school elections
arguing for better pensions for the elderly.
Seena
studied Politics and Philosophy at Warwick University and went onto
complete her Masters in business and information technology at Aston
University and since 1995 has developed a successful career as a
management consultant. Today she is a senior manager in the Government
and Public Sector practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She focuses
on strategy and change management.
Still
passionate about politics Seena has been a member of the Labour
Party since she was 17. In her early 20's she set up and co-ordinated
the West London Young Labour which ran across five boroughs, she
has held senior office in her local constituency, she has stood
for local election and was selected by five constituencies to be
the Labour candidate for London South West Assembly elections 2004
and has helped her local community in this role. Seena is also a
member of the Fabian society and was elected chair of the society
in 2006. In this role she has set up and spoken at many conferences
that have been attended by high profile politicians and media. Seena
