DR RACHNA UPADHYA
Dr Rachna Upadhya, managing director, Bear Stearns

Rachna originally trained as a medical doctor and was previously a GP in Central London. In 1999 she decided on a career change and obtained an MBA at Imperial College. She was immediately recruited by Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers during 2000 and now works for US investment bank Bear Stearns.

Rachna is working in equity research as a pharmaceutical analyst with responsibilities for overseeing commercial developments in several large European pharmaceutical companies including GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZenecca, Sanofi Synthelabo, Novartis and Roche. She has progressed rapidly and has recently been promoted to managing director level - all within five years of starting in the completely new world of Finance.

As a researcher Rachna is extremely competent and has successfully been able to combine medicine, science and finance.
