PATEL
Priti Patel, 34, corporate relations director and Conservative
party member, Welling, Kent
Priti
graduated from Keele University in 1994 with a BA (Hons) in Economics
and Sociology and went onto gain a British Government & Politics
Diploma from the University of Essex. From here Priti went onto
become the deputy press secretary to Rt. Hon William Hague MP. In
this role she was responsible for generating all media coverage
for William's events, tours and election campaigns. In
2000 Priti went onto work as director of WeberShandwick Public Affairs.
Here
she was a policy, media and campaigns advisor to the NFU, Meat &
Livestock Commission and to the Bar Council as well as advisor to
IKEA and Rolls-Royce. In 2003 she became corporate relations director
at Diageo Plc where she works on international public policy issues
related to the wider impact of alcohol in society. In this role
Priti works with the World Health Organisation, the Eurpoean Commission
and governments across Europe, US, Asia and Africa on all aspects
of alcohol and health, tax and international trade issues.
Priti
has a keen interest in politics and is a member of the Conservative
Party. She is also chairman of the Erith & Thamesmead Conservative
Association, that focuses on strategic 'target ward' campaigns on
so called 'solid' labour seats. To date nine Conservative Councillors
were elected in wards that had been Labour seats for 30 years. Priti
stood as the Parliamentary candidate for North Nottingham in 2004
and is committed to community work in her local area.
