KAREN SETO
Karen Seto, executive director in equities, Lehman Brothers, London

Karen SetoKaren Seto is an executive director in equities for Lehman Brothers. After completing her undergraduate degree at the Wharton School in 1994 Karen started her career in banking and finance as a management trainee at Bear Stearns in New York. After 18 months, having excelled through rotations in prime services and international operations, Karen joined the front office on the Programme Trading desk as a sales trader. Karen then took the opportunity to move to the London Programme Training Desk and left her friends and family in the United States to pursue her career.

Looking for new challenges Karen decided to join Lehman Brothers Programme Trading Desk in London in 1999. As a sales trader Karen directly contributed to the growth and development of the firm's equities business, with revenues in her business of Program and Electronic Trading increasing by over 500% since she joined the firm. She was promoted to Executive Director in 2006. Karen is an active member of the Lehman Brothers Women's Network, the European Women's Initiatives leading Lehman and co-heads the €-WILL Graduate Recruitment pod to encourage more women into the industry. Karen is also a member of Women in Banking and Finance (WIBF) and is on the organisation's management committee.
