ALINA MIRZA
Alina Mirza, artistic director of Heer Productions Ltd, Glasgow

Alina Mirza is a medical doctor and came to the UK in 1991 to complete a masters in public health in 1996. Alina has a long standing interest in the area of health and arts, as by helping people to achieve a sense of health and well-being it is essential to enable them to achieve their full creative potential. With this as her core value Alina established the film and cross-arts form production company, Heer Productions Ltd, in 2004. Heer Productions addresses the lack of participation and representation in the arts by the South Asian and especially the Pakistani community in Scotland and the UK.

Alina organised Europe's first ever Pakistani film, media and arts festival in Glasgow in 2005 and has also organised many other unique and innovative projects with other Asian arts organisations in Scotland. Alina has also been the Chair of the Black and Ethnic Minority Women's Health group, and was a member of the Planning Committee for the 15 years of the Women's Health celebration event.
