The
Network of Aspiring Women (NOAW) Awards 2011 took
place on Friday 30th September 2011 at the famous
Villa Park in Birmingham, West Midlands. Founded
by Jo Cameron, the overall NOAW Award Winner was
Ruth Amos of StairSteady Ltd, a company that designs
and sells innovative mobility solution fostering
independence and the maintenance of an active lifestyle.
'Woman Business Owner' of the year was Solvej Biddle
of Content & Calm that designs products that
make travelling with children fun, relaxing and
safe. Servane Mouazan, founder of social innovators
platform Ogunte was recognised as 'Womans
Advocate' of the year and Kay Hammond, founder of
Tamba Internet, a social media marketing, viral
campaigns and integrated digital communications
agency, was awarded the 'Woman in Engineering/ Technology
Award'.
Jeanette Yuile of Shell UK
Ltd was recognised with the 'Corporate Leader'
Award; Elaine Clark of CheapAccounting.co.uk,
a SaaS platform providing affordable accountancy
services to small businesses won the 'Woman in
Finance' Award; Nikki Sharpe of Youth Can Achieve
Limited, a dynamic social enterprise providing
longterm motivation to young people aged 7-30,
was honoured with the 'Leadership in the Community'
Award; Marie Boyer of France Line International
Transport Ltd was named 'Transportation Woman'
of the Year and Rana Nazir of Al Fereej Trading
UK Ltd won the accolade of 'Women in Property
& Construction'.
Judges for the NOAW Awards 2011 included: Caroline
Waters Director, People & Policy at BT; Irene
Curtis Vice President at Police Superintendent's
Association of England and Wales; Gill Fielding
Secret Millionaire and leading businesswoman;
Rachel Elnaugh former Dragon's Den judge and leading
entrepreneur; Lynne Franks Founder of B-Hive and
leading businesswoman; Charlotte Sweeney International
Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Nomura International;
Gita Patel Director, Trapezia and Penny Mallory
Rally Driver, motivational speaker and presenter.
