MUSLIM
DEMONSTRATION AT LABOUR PARTY CONFERENCE
(23 September 2006)
Tony
Blairs appearance in Manchester for a Labour Party Conference
in the G-Mex is due to be greeted by a large-scale demonstration
outside Manchester Town Hall at 1pm on Saturday 23 September 2006.
The Muslim Association of Britain with co-organisers CND and Stop
the War are calling this demonstration to protest against many of
the atrocities committed against innocents, particularly the slaughter
of children, in war ridden Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon.
Tens
of thousands of people are expected to attend the demonstration
on Saturday as an unprecedented mass mobilization of the Muslim
population in Manchester, which numbers 100,000 at present. MAB
spokesman, Harris Bokhari, stated, "Blair must know that his
actions are not justifiable in the name of freedom, justice and
democracy. The thousands of childrens lives that have been
lost in these wars is a price that should never have been paid.
Nothing can redeem these losses, but we can aim to build a brighter
future for people living in these countries."
Soon
after the demonstration, MAB will be campaigning to encourage schools
across the UK to adopt a child either from Palestine, Iraq or Lebanon
so that these children can have the same life opportunities as those
living here in the UK.
The
Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) have also organised a Regional
Day of Commemoration on Friday 22nd September wherein mosques
across Manchester will remember the thousands of childrens
lives lost in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon in their Friday sermons
or Khutbahs. Mosques will be opening their doors to national news
cameras to allow the world to see Muslims praying in congregation
for the ending of the slaughter of innocent children in other parts
of the world. MAB President, Ahmad Sheikh says that praying
together creates unity. We want the rest of world to also stand
united with us in our hopes and prayers to end world conflict, war
and poverty.
