'STOP
BUSHARRAF' MASS ACTION CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED
(17 September 2004)
Hizb
ut-Tahrir Britain is initiating a mass action campaign to call upon
the Muslims of Pakistan to rise up and remove President Musharraf
and replace his system with the Islamic Khilafah [Caliphate]. The
campaign will be launched at Friday prayers on 17 September where
the Muslim community will be urged to call for an end to Musharrafs
continued subservience to the Bush regime. The aptly named Stop
Busharraf campaign will culminate in a massive demonstration
to Pakistans High Commission in Central London on Saturday
9th October.
Nadeem
Khan, the organiser of the campaign, said, Musharraf has dutifully
carried out Bushs demands he has sold out over Kashmir,
has permitted American forces to establish bases in Pakistan, has
legitimised the occupation of Iraq, has provided logistical support
and intelligence to US forces in Afghanistan and has surrendered
control over Pakistans economy to multinationals. It seems
that Musharraf is the first Pakistani leader to sacrifice all of
Pakistans strategic resources to get an American President
re-elected.
Dr
Imran Waheed, a UK based doctor and the Representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir
Britain, said, Only the re-establishment of the Islamic Khilafah
[Caliphate] will stop Busharraf, end Pakistans subservience
to foreign colonialist powers and unify the vast armies and resources
of the Muslim world into a single state. Hizb ut-Tahrir can see
the Khilafah on the horizon - it calls upon Muslims, particularly
the people of power and influence, to remove the weak Musharraf
and establish the Islamic Khilafah.
The
campaign will also see hundreds of thousands of English and Urdu
leaflets and petitions distributed throughout the UK exploring the
extent of Musharrafs betrayal. The Muslim community will also
be encouraged to campaign by writing to newspapers, discussing on
the Internet and contributing to radio and TV phone-ins. Advertisements
will also appear in newspapers and on satellite television.
