CRE Chair, Trevor Phillips, said “The CRE’s Race in the Media Awards were established in 1992 at a time when whole communities were being left out of the national portrait. Eleven years on, there is no doubt that ethnic minorities are increasingly better reflected on the front page and the small screen. Our next task is to ensure that the industry’s top dogs and decision-makers also mirror the diverse make-up of society.

The results were announced at a gala luncheon at the Savoy Hotel in London attended by judges, nominees and a host of celebrities and leading players in the UK media. Channel 4 News anchorman, Jon Snow, and Sky News presenter, Lisa Aziz, hosted the awards.
