ASIAN WOMEN'S NETWORK LAUNCHES IN THE UK
(May 18th 2003)
Three
dynamic Asian women, Manisha Dahad, Vimmi Singh and Parminder Vir,
OBE, have co-founded a new Dynamic Asian Women's Network (DAWN).
Passionate about freeing, connecting and transforming the potential
of Asian women around the world, the first DAWN Evening is to take
place on June 4th at The Cinnamon Club in London. The event is open
to men and women supporting the forum.
Co-founder
Parminder Vir, OBE and winner of the Asian Women of Achievement
Award for Media 2001, will introduce DAWN and three outstanding
Asian women to inspire the audience with their success stories.
These include Perween Warsi, CBE, Managing Director of S&A Foods
and an award-winning entrepreneur who has built a £100m food
manufacturing business, Punita Gajree, Partner at Accenture, a leading
global management consultancy firm and Archie Panjabi, Film &
TV Actress, best known for her roles in 'East
is East' and 'Bend
it Like Beckham'.
DAWN
is one of the first networks for Asian women providing a unique
forum with a holistic approach to addressing their professional,
entrepreneurial & self-development needs. It is a forum for
talented Asian women who are determined to succeed and passionate
about their identity, retaining their unique characteristics and
values.
DAWN's
leading edge, comprehensive programme & networking events will
provide a powerful platform to allow women to explore new careers,
transition to other industries and rediscover their potential at
any stage of their lives. It intends to deliver events and workshops
that turn ideas into reality and make a difference to Asian women's
careers.
DAWN's

ABOUT
'DAWN' FOUNDERS
DAWN
will be working with professional associations, networks, corporate
organisations and non-profit organisations to support contemporary
Asian women. The three founders are all Asian women - Manisha Dahad,
Vimmi Singh and Parminder Vir, OBE .
Manisha
Dahad has extensive experience in innovation management, strategy
development and business transformations from working with clients
at IBM consultancy. She is now applying her business savvy and her
passion of empowering women to enable them to explore new opportunities
& realise their full potential through DAWN.
Vimmi
Singh has powered many start-ups in her career as a venture capitalist
at JP Morgan Chase and Lazard Brothers. With a talent for building
durable businesses and a drive to accelerate the advancement of
Asian women, she found a fit with the opportunity to crystallise
DAWN. Both Manisha and Vimmi received their MBAs at London Business
School.
Parminder
is a successful Feature Film and TV producer with an innovative
and groundbreaking career path in the media. As Diversity Advisor
to the Chief Executive of Carlton Television, she has the responsibility
for developing talent and policy for achieving diversity on and
behind screen. Parminder was awarded an OBE last year for services
to Broadcasting and Film. In 2001 she won the Asian Women of Achievement
Award for Media. Parminder has developed a rare sense for the needs
of Asian women which is a priceless asset to DAWN.
Following
the continuing growth of the network, the DAWN website will be launched
by June 20. DAWN does not receive any government funding. Its revenue
is generated from the products and services that it provides to
clients.
