REDHOTCURRY.COM SHORTLISTED FOR AOP AWARDS 2003

Redhotcurry.com has been shortlisted for the AOP (Association of Online Publishers) Awards 2003. Considered by many as the "Oscars" of digital publishing, other shortlisted nominees in the same 'Best Consumer Digital Site' category include the BBC and FT, Thisismoney.co.uk and Emap sites Aloud.com and FHM.com.

Competing against web giants BBC.co.uk and FT.com, editor Lopa Patel said "We're not cracking open the champagne just yet. Being up against the BBC is like David and Goliath, as a niche portal we're never going to have the kind of the audience that the BBC or FT sites have, but it is heartening to be included among some of the UK's best websites. I hope that this brings added recognition for the significant contribution that British Asians make to the cultural, sociological and economical wealth of this country".

The standard of entries was extremely high and all short listed entries have been highly commended by the judges.

Winners will be announced at the AOP's conference and awards ceremony at London's Millennium Mayfair on 14 October. The theme for this year's Online Publishing onference is building revenue through loyalty and innovation and will feature a keynote presentation from Richard Eyre, chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau Leadership Council. Visions for the future of interactive publishing will also be outlined by other speakers including Peter Cowley of Endemol, Iain Melville of Reed Business Information and Hugo Drayton of Hollinger Telegraph New Media. This conference will be followed by a choice of four workshops addressing Commercial, Editorial, Legal and Marketing issues for online publishers.
