London
faces influx of Asian Brides
(17th January 2002)
Asian weddings are a costly affair, costing on average between
£15,000 and £20,000 with the wedding outfit alone
starting at around £2,000.
The
intricacies, rites and rituals of Asian Weddings are also a potential
minefield of tradition, one that the Asian Bride Show 2002 hopes
to help you navigate. The show, which takes place at the Café
Royal on Sunday 10th February 2002,
will showcase the best in Asian Wedding Services.
The
Asian Wedding Industry in the UK is valued at over £300 million,
with fashion suppliers claim approximately one third of the total.
Sarwar Ahmed, publisher of Asian Bride magazine says of the industry:
"The young Asian professional does not have time to meet each
and every supplier, so we've brought them all together under one
roof. The secret of a successful wedding is planning and the quality
of the suppliers you choose. We'll have everyone from astrologers,
mehndi artists and mandap makers, to florists, party organisers,
venues and caterers."
The
event will also see ten of the UK's leading Asian fashion designers
come together to create a stunning catwalk of Asian bridal outfits
and accessories. The fashion houses have dressed some of UK's best-known
celebrities including Mrs Blair, Melanie B, Samantha Mumba, Nina
Wadia, Meera Syal and even Sir Richard Branson.
The
Asian Bride Show will take place at the Café Royal in Regent
Street, on Sunday 10th February 2002.
The show will be open from 11.00am till 11.00pm with fashion shows
at 1.00pm, 3.00pm, 5.00pm, 7.00pm and 9.00pm. Tickets are available
from Smart Asian Media on 020 8981 6060.
