29th November 2010

Karen David at the BAFTA Children's AwardsActress and singer Karen David last night lit up the red carpet at the EA British Academy Children’s Awards, as she stepped out in a glorious Alberta Ferretti one shoulder silk gown with embroidered bust. Karen joined a host of celebrities including X-Factor heart-throb Aiden Grimshaw, Strictly star Matt Baker and Actors David Harewood and Will Johnson at the London Hilton, Park Lane to present the BAFTA for Best Children’s Animation. Karen’s attendance at the Awards comes as her character Francesca Montoya the sultry Spanish teacher settles in at the school in Waterloo Rd and appears to have become a huge favourite with the programmes fans.

Karen David at the BAFTA Children's AwardsKaren comments: “It has been a great experience and Cesca certainly brings her personality into the school. I’ve loved the role and the response that I’ve had from die-hard fans and a lot of new younger fans of the show is fantastic.” Karen is now set to appear in a completely different role, as the lead in new children’s Sci-Fi series Pixelface, produced by Jeremy Salsberg for Graham Norton’s Company So! Television, and which is due to air on cBBC and BBC1 in early January. The Waterloo Road star presented the Award for Best Animation to Gareth Owen, Richard Webber and Chris Sadler from Aardman Animations/CBBC for Shaun the Sheep.
