A young couple return home to confront the fault lines of prejudice and cultural division that had driven them to find sanctuary a few miles down the road in Birmingham. Written by a South Asian female writer Sonali Bhattacharyya and directed by Janet Steel of London-based Kali Theatre Company, A Thin Red Line explores what it means to be different and how to belong in 21st Century Britain.

Identity, community, acceptance and divided loyalties are questioned in this thought-provoking theatre production. Five distinct Black Country community groups took part in workshops, where the 60th anniversary of Partition of India was used as a starting point for discussion, 'What does partition mean in Britain today?'. "We believe it's important for people who don't work in the arts, to inform and be part of the creative process. The play has evolved from those discussions."
