Out
of Kali Shorts comes Kali Futures: four playwrights who show massive
potential have emerged from Kali Shorts. The writers, Azma Khan,
Saumya Balsari, Majinder Virk and Harpit Sekhon, have been supported
through a process of dramaturgy, workshops and rehearsals to develop
a new short script.
Professional
actors will read over two nights at the Soho Theatre in Dean Street,
four stimulating, hilarious and thought provoking plays from these
new playwrights.

'Little Curry Club' is a wry comedy about three Asian females of
different ages, communities and social background. The three women
work respectively as volunteer, manager and TV documentary researcher
in Indianeed, a Cambridge charity shop run by Mrs. Wellington-Smith,
the snooty white owner. Bizarre events (including a corpse in the
shop) soon unfold, sending their normal work day spiralling out
of control. As they desperately attempt a sense of balance and order,
their interaction reveals issues of class, race, imperialism, homosexuality
and prejudice, as well as fissures within the generations of UK
Asians.
Directed by Suzanne Gorman
