London
2001, and two ambitious lawyers, Irfan and Nina,
prepare for their wedding day and dream honeymoon.
But despite herself, the normally level-headed
Nina has become passionately drawn to Irfan's
enigmatic cousin who has flown in for the big
day. Does he hold the key to the visions that
haunt her? Those nightmares in which she and a
nameless stranger are running for their lives
towards a river of blood. Soon Nina is caught
up in a chain of events which began long before
she was born and one that is destined to end in
tragedy.
This
compelling and uniquely visual drama combines
the passions of Indian and Spanish cultures using
flamenco and Kathak dance, video projection and
original music to tell a modern story of a timeless
love.
The
Big Picture Company
The
Big Picture Company is fast becoming known as
the UK's most talented ensemble and its innovative
, multimedia approach draws on the strengths of
the all-female creative team - Uzma Hameed, Rachel
Harris and Lisa Mead. The company devised and
toured the hit comedy show 'All Things Asian (and
Not!)' before presenting A Dark River at the British
Festival of Visual Theatre in 1998. This was followed
by a highly successful run at the Young Vic in
London and a national tour supported by The Arts
Council of England. Future plans include a mentoring
collaboration with the English Touring Theatre
and a residency at the Leicester Haymarket.
