Those responsible for the nights and bringing the single and album projects together are Shaanti duo Manga and Sharnita who have been providing their own unique brand of desi beats and urban sounds on Midlands Galaxy Radio and at their Award Winning club-night for nearly a decade now. With unique access to the sound of the Asian underground, they have used their expertise to push the Disco Warrior single and also compile 'Mighty Asian Beats': a compilation packed with exclusive tracks, one off collaborations and Asian anthems.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE KALYAN

Anil Kalyan aka 'The Kalyan' has been in the music industry for the last 10 years exploring different styles and grooves, incorporating it into live performances and music production. He grew up amongst a family driven by music.

Anil's father was Tarsem Kalyan a dholak/percussionist for one of the first major Asian bands in he UK with Punjabi music 'Anari Sangeet Party', his uncle Kelly Kalyan is a musician recognised for his Tabla/dholak and drumming by some of the most highly respected Asian artists such as gahzal king Jagjit Singh and Gulam Ali. Joined by his son Sunil Kalyan, the hottest tabla player by far in the uk, Kelly is still a veteran figure with the pioneers of bhangra themselves Alaap!

Anil Kalyan started his assault on the music industry with the award winning and highly acclaimed bhangra band D.C.S in 1997. D.C.S was the major stepping-stone and foundation in moulding him towards being a producer and a musician. For the next 7 years he toured and performed with D.C.S up and down the country as well as in many international venues playing stages where no other Asian bands had performed.

Demand for fusion beats and grooves grew so Anil decided to take the next step and launched Kalyan Productions in 2004 that formed a musical partnership with Jasmin Café Studio owned by Satnam Singh and Sundeep Sagoo. Jasmin Café studios played a substantial part in Kalyan productions taking off and Anil learnt more styles and methods of making music opening the doors to funk, house, drum & bass, hip hop, rock and underground.

It was not long before became it inevitable that Anil Kalyan started to play alongside some of the big names on the decks, a feat made possible by Manga, founder and partner of Shaanti records. Manga signed a track sung by Lehmbar Hussainpuri and 'Disco Warrior' was born.
