UK Release 15 December 2006

What happens when the one you trust as a savior looses his enthusiasm to lend a helping hand? Is there any way out for help? Would it be an end of road? These were the thoughts that disturbed the mind of Kajol [Karisma Kapoor] who didn't have anywhere to look forward to save her lover Suraj [Arshad Warsi] from a certain capital punishment! What had happened in the past? Why was Kajol so helpless that she just had one individual to look forward to who could prove to be the savior? What was Suraj's crime?

It seemed to be just another sweet'n'sugar love story as Kajol and Suraj fell for each other. The roadblock was quite apparent though as there was wide social gap between the two. While Kajol belonged to a well-to-do family with riches and luxuries all around, Suraj just had the wealth of love with him. As expected, there was family pressure on Kajol to get married to a guy of her father's choce, Sunil. On realizing about Kajol's love for Suraj, Sunil makes a sinister plan to get rid of him.

He hatches a plot to get Suraj arrested in a murder that he had not committed. Soon Suraj finds himself behind the bars! And now there is only one man who could bail him out and get him 'zamaanat' - Shiv Shankar [Amitabh Bachchan]! A prominent lawyer for number of years, he is now left with little interest in practicing since the time he met with a accident that had left him blind. The incident also separated him from his beloved [Vijayashanti] that completely broke him from inside! With no desire left for anything in the entire world, Shiv Shankar goes into a shell and it requires several knocks on the door from Kajol to make him realize his potential...once again!

Though he is hesitant to pick up the case of Suraj, a constant request by Kajol makes him remember about his own love that drives him to don the lawyer's coat.... once again! And when he does that, there is no escape for the criminals! With his mind still having a razor-sharp impact inspite of a lost vision, he picks up one clue after another to expose the criminals and makes a key witness confess the truth before the judge. With an entire trial conducted in public, the climax is the highlight of the film as Shiv Shankar goes all out to get justice for Suraj!
