Taal

Directed by Subhash Ghai
Cast: Akshaye Khanna, Aishwarya Rai, Anil Kapoor
Print Source: Eros International.

Aishwarya Rai stars in 'Taal' directed by Subhash Ghai.Subhash Ghai's blockbuster love story has everything - gorgeous stars, lush scenery and some brilliantly inventive musical numbers.

It is the story of Mansi (Aishwarya Rai) a country girl who leads a simple life with her folk-singing dad in remote Himachal Pradesh, until Manav (Akshaye Khanna) comes along. A wealthy businessman, he has come to buy the land where they live, but he returns to the city with his eyes sparkling for Mansi. However, the inevitable family obstacles get in the way, and when Mansi meets street-smart music composer Vikrant (Anil Kapoor) we have a full-blown love triangle on our hands.

This is consummate Bollywood entertainment, illuminated by a career-building star turn from the stunning Aishwarya Rai. The soundtrack is another winner from the fertile imagination of AR Rehman, featuring Northern Indian flavours and Asha Bhosle's show-stopping 'Kahin Aag Lage', and the sumptuous cinematography is perfect for Birmingham's huge IMAX screen.
