releasing in cinemas worldwide on 4th December 2009. The landmark
film is presented under Amitabh Bachchans production banner,
AB Corp, in conjunction with Reliance BIG Pictures. This year
is also keynote for the godfather of Indian Cinema as it marks
40 years of his formidable work in the industry which has gained
him global adulation and recognition.
Paa presents
a first in Indian cinema, dealing with an issue that has never
before been dealt with on screen as it features Amitabh Bachchan
as a 12-year-old child with an extremely rare genetic defect that
causes accelerated ageing. In a literal reversal of roles, the
screen legend will be playing the son character to his real-life
son, Abhishek Bachchan, whom he stars alongside in the film. Paa
is sure to win the acclaim of audiences and critics the world
over.
Synopsis
Auro
(Amitabh Bachchan) is a witty 12-year-old boy with an extremely
rare genetic defect that causes accelerated ageing - a Projeria
like syndrome. Mentally, he is a normal 13-year-old, but physically,
he looks six times older. Despite his condition, Auro is a very
happy boy, living with his gynaecologist mother Vidya
(Viday Balan) and father Amol (Abhishek Bachchan)
- a progressive and full of ideals politician, out to change the
world. Paa is a rare story about a father-son, son-father
relationship.
