Aetbaar AETBAAR
Directed by: Vikram Bhatt
Starring: Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, Bipasha Basu
Music by: Rajesh Roshan
UK release 23 January 2004.

Aetbaar will be Tata Infomedia Ltd’s first motion picture under their recently launched production banner, Cutting Edge Entertainment. Tata Infomedia grabbed the opportunity to venture into film production after finding Aetbaar’s script impressive. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, models turned actors John Abraham and Bipasha Basu in the lead, Aetbaar is directed by the acclaimed Vikram Bhatt.

The movie is about a father, Dr. Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan) who has lost his eldest son in communal riots and becomes over possessive about the safety of his daughter, Ria (Bipasha Basu). Dr. Malhotra believes he is simply a protective parent while his daughter Ria believes he’s simply paranoid and old-fashioned.

All is well till Aryan (John Abraham) walks into their life. Ria falls in love with Aryan at college and her father is convinced that she is leading herself into a dangerous trap. Aryan is the epitome of all the values that Ria’s father is afraid of while she has decided to fall in love with him. Bipasha plays a submissive girl initially, but she becomes more decisive at the end when she has to choose between her lover and her father.

Soon begins a war between Dr. Malhotra and Aryan, each fighting for Ria’s support. The film is a spine-chilling thriller looking at the father-daughter duo ultimately overcoming their problems, but not before Aryan has left a terrible trail of destruction in their lives. The film is expected to keep you glued to your seats as you witness the negative shades John Abraham and Amitabh Bahchan’s fight for his daughter’s safety.
