Pakistan is set to lift the veil on its rich cultural heritage this Summer with a world-first arts event at London's Royal Albert Hall on 18th June. Featuring internationally-renowned musicians, singers, dancers, fashion designers, rock and pop groups on stage together for the first time, Rhythms of the Indus will celebrate Pakistan's ancient arts traditions with a modern twist.

The one-night extravaganza on follows the course of the river Indus, the historical, cultural and economic backbone of Pakistan. As the river weaves its way through the country, the audience will be taken through its cultural landscape, from the Himalayas and the site of the ancient Moghul kings and the rich diversity of Lahore to the cosmopolitan sea-port of Karachi.

Renowned folk singer Abida Parveen, described by the BBC as 'the owner of one of the most remarkable voices on the planet' will be on stage for the only time in the UK this year. World-famous dancer Nahid Saddiqui, will be opening the show with the acclaimed kathak dance, which gave its gracious moves to the flamenco.

Meanwhile, 'one of the biggest bands in the world' and 'Asia's answer to Santana' - Junoon - will be playing global hits in their own inimitable Urdu mixed with Western rock style. And pop giants, Strings, who recorded Pakistan's last Cricket World Cup song, will also be adding to the evening's excitement.

Other noted artists include Bhangra king Abrar, who'll be performing his massive Punjabi/ House fusion hits, and Papoo Saaeein, Pakistan's foremost folk drummer, whose rhythmic beats are becoming legendary. As well as a stunning musical line-up, Rhythms of the Indus will also feature diverse fashion designs from world-famous Rizwan Beyg and Nilofer Shahid, former designers to the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Amin Gulgee, renowned in the East and in the West for his 'sculpture' fashions, will also be on the catwalk with his incredible fantasy designs.

Hosted by Britain's leading Pakistani celebrity, Art Malik, and Asian TV and film star, Atiqa Odho, the one-off show on June 18 will also include many other stars in a unique blend of traditional and modern culture. Supported by the High Commission for Pakistan and the Bestway Foundation, Rhythms of the Indus celebrates the spirit of Pakistan's country, land, people and culture.

Priced from £25 to £50, tickets are available from The Royal Albert Hall Box Office on the south side of the Hall from Consort Road, by phoning 0207 589 8212 or by booking online at www.royalalberthall.com. Click here to visit the 'Rhythms of the Indus' website.
