Bradford is launching its 2005 festival which is set to turn the city into a stage for two weeks next month (17th June - 3rd July). Highlights include the Bradford Mela (Saturday 18th - Sunday 19th June) - the biggest event of its kind outside the Indian sub-continent. Acts include Najam Sheraz, Sony Asia TV's rising new star, Dalvinder Singh Best Newcomer at the Asian Pop Awards, Talvin Singh Trio, world famous composer and innovator of the first digital tabla, and RDB who combine Sikh folk music, heavy bass and MC rhymes.

Bradford Council Leader Councillor Margaret Eaton said: "Bradford Festival is always a wonderful celebration of the creativity and talents of local people, and the district's ethnic and cultural diversity. It's a fabulous event for all ages to enjoy and it attracts thousands of people to a varied programme of exciting events, including the popular Mela. It is also a major part of Bradford's calendar and this year's Festival promises to be better than ever."
