DSC Jaipur Literature Festival 20-24 January 2012

Surina Narula MBEConsidered to be Asia's leading literature event the seventh annual DSC Jaipur Literature Festival, is all set to enthrall literary enthusiasts from 20th - 24th January 2012. The annual festival will be held at the heritage property Diggi Palace in Jaipur, and promises to live up to its claim of being a celebration of national and international writing. Some of the prominent authors who have confirmed their participation for the 2012 festival are Ben Okri, David Hare, David Remnick, David Shulman, Deepak Chopra, Diana Eck, Fatima Bhutto, Hari Kunzru, Jamaica Kincaid, James Schapiro, Jason Burke, Jatin Nayak, Mahesh Dattani, Mohamed Hanif, Pankaj Mishra, Purshotam Agarwal, Rabi Thapa, Simon Sebag Montefiore, Tahmima Anam, Thant Mynt-U and Zoe Heller.

Entering its seventh year, The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival, has already hosted some of the best-known national and international writers including Orhan Pamuk, J.M. Coetzee, John Berendt, Kiran Desai, Christopher Hampton, Ian McEwan, Vikram Seth, Nadeem Aslam, Wole Soyinka, Salman Rushdie, Pico Iyer, Simon Schama, Thomas Keneally, Hanif Kureishi, Vikram Chandra, Anoushka Shankar, Michael Frayn, Stephen Frears, Alexander McCall Smith, Donna Tartt, Tina Brown, Shashi Tharoor, Mohammed Hanif, and Paul Zacharia.

The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival 2011 had approximately 60,000 visitors attending the five-day festival with over 700,000 viewers who logged on to see a session on line and organisers are hoping to increase participation in 2012. The Directors of the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival are William Dalrymple and Namita Gokhale The Festival is produced by Sanjoy K. Roy and Sheuli Sethi of Teamwork Productions. DSC Limited is the principal sponsor of the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival.
