UTV launches movies-on-your-phone service in India

UTV New Media, the digital arm of UTV Software Communications Ltd., today announced the launch of 'Audio Cinema', a first of its kind movie-on-your-phone service in India. This technological innovation offers movie enthusiasts, a one hour audio version of their favourite movies with dialogues, narration and the gist of the story for as little as six rupees per minute. Opening the audio box office with smash hits such as Fashion and Sholay (Hindi), Prem Loka (Kannada), Thalapathi (Tamil) and Gang Leader (Telugu), Audio Cinema hopes have movie buffs hooked on to their phones each Friday with refreshing new content.

UTV Play’s Audio Cinema is available through various service providers in India including Idea, Vodafone, Airtel Mobile and Reliance. A few of the innovative features associated with this initiative including users being able to pause/resume a movie in between phone calls. Listeners can choose their preference from a long list of titles, coupled with their preferred language option.
