Curry Awards 2010 Winners 17 June 2010
The
winners of the Scottish Curry Awards 2010 were
announced on 15th June 2010 at the Thistle Hotel
in Glasgow. Well over 5000 nominations were received
from from all over Scotland and over 600 people
attended the award ceremony including Miss Earth
Sarah Finlay. The Curry King of 2010 Award presented
by Shabir Hussian of Akbar's went to Dr. Wali
Uddin (pictured left). Performances on
the evening from Miss Punjabeez - a brand new
female bhangra group who hope to bring back Punjabi
dancing with their self-choreographed performances
to bhangra and giddah - and Punjabi No.1 a young,
fresh group who are taking the dance world by
storm with their unique fusion of hip hop and
traditional Indian dance.

Curry Lover of the Year
Award, presented by Angie Bennett of Love
Curry magazine and Miss Earth Sarah Finlay, went
to Trampy and the Tramp also known as Graeme Virtue
& Christopher Cameron of Trampy and the Tramp's
Glasgow of Curry.

Lifetime Achievement Award
2010 presented by Amit Arora of the Oceanic
Group went to Sohan Singh. A Glasgow based entrepreneur
who dedicates a great deal of his time to raising
money for charity and assisting various members
of the restaurant industry. With two decades on
the curry scene and a raft of businesses throughout
Glasgow he has been a pivotal link between Scotland
and India.
The Sunday Post Restaurant
of the Year Award presented by the Editor
of the Sunday Post Donald Martin and the Deputy
Editor Colin Grant went to Bukharah, Glasgow.

Curry King or Queen of
2010 Award presented by Shabir Hussian of
Akbar's went to Dr. Wali Uddin. Dr. Wali Uddin
has been involved in the UK's curry industry since
1967 taking the Scottish dining scene by storm
in 2000 with the opening of his restaurant in
Edinburgh. 2010 sees his dedication to charitable
endeavours mixed with his passion for curry continue
with his support for Concern Worldwide's Bangladeshi
pavement dweller campaign Amrao Manush project.
