Bollywood
star Shilpa Shetty opens Bombay Bicycle Restaurant
in Chelsea (24 February 2010)
Bollywood
star Shilpa Shetty, Co-Chairperson and Brand Ambassador
of the V8 Gourmet Group, officially launched the
Bombay Bicycle restaurant in Chelsea on Wednesday
24th February. Formerly the site of V8 Gourmet’s
Vama restaurant, the new Bombay Bicycle is one of
four Bombay Bicycle London restaurants known for
offering authentic and flavoursome home-style Indian
cooking in contemporary surroundings. The 60-cover
restaurant’s launch follows in the heels of several
new Bombay Bicycle delivery kitchens which have
opened this month at existing Bombay Bicycle restaurant
sites including Balham, Holland Park and Hampstead,
along with the City Kitchen in St Paul’s.
"I’m so pleased with the new openings and particularly
our flagship site in Chelsea,” said Shetty. Chelsea
locals have now been blessed with the perfect restaurant
to dine in for delicious Indian cooking. There are
a whole range of superb dishes on the menu and a
number of them only have less than 10% fat.”
Andy Varma, Director of Food and Business Development
for V8 Gourmet, stated: "Not only have we been
very fortunate to have our flagship Bombay Bicycle
restaurant launched by Shilpa, but the menu is absolutely
fabulous and the airy environs, with lovely violets,
lime greens and soft pinks cosy and very comforting.”
Some of the notable dishes include Kali Mirch ke
Tukre (cheese and cream marinated chicken breast
smoked in the tandoor, flavoured with crushed black
pepper), Murgh Masala (a Bombay Bicycle classic
with spices and flavour that dance on the palate!)
and Gostht Kata Masala (succulent lamb cooked in
a fragrant onion, chilli and garlic sauce). There
are also some refreshing ice cream flavours such
as Chilli Chocolate and Creamy Ginger and Honey.
