EDITORIAL COMMENT

Now that the "Big Bang" experiment at CERN has been switched on (was it just me or was the occasion a bit of a "damp squib"?) , the recriminations can really start! The unsung hero of the hour is a little known Indian scientist, Satyendra Nath Bose, who should be recognised posthumously for his ideas.

Others who might also be appreciated after they have long gone from the scene is Tariq Ghaffur. Although not many have sympathy for his legal case against the Met Police for racism, Sir Ian Blair suspending Ghaffur does seem to be adding to the claims of a "white wash" on this issue.
