Richard
Harrington MP inaugurated the new Watford Business
Club at Micklefield Hall, Rickmansworth, on Friday
15th October 2010. Mr Harrington, who is Chairman
of the Watford Business Club and parliamentary advisor
to the Ethnic Minority Business Group (EMBG), has
had over 25 years experience running a business
before being elected an a Member of Parliament for
Watford in May 2010. In his welcome speech, he spoke
about the need to "tackle unemployment, particularly
among young people, and the need for small and medium
size companies in the town to prosper". The
Watford Business Club has Lord Salisbury, the 7th
Marquess of Salisbury and Lord Garel Jones as Patrons,
Dr Rami Ranger MBE FRSA as its President and local
Councillor Steve O'Brien as Vice Chairman.
Dr Ranger in his opening
address said "Business clubs provide an excellent
forum for companies to promote their products
and services and to network with other business
problem to share common problems. My own company,
Sun Mark Ltd, exports to over 90 countries and
we have certainly benefited from forging links
with companies in those countries to understand
their markets. No one has a monopoly on wisdom
and sharing best practice is very important. It
is also vitally important that our MPs understand
the wide range of issues confronting businesses.
I hope that you will become a member of the Watford
Business Club and through its meetings with Richard
Harrington acquaint him with your company's position".
The Watford Business Club
has been established to promote the interests
of small and medium sized businesses within the
Watford area and costs £600 per annum to
join (either as a one-off payment or by standing
order over 12 months). The club hopes to reach
to the 2,500 local businesses, nearby networks
and individuals interested in improving business
activity in the region. Its financial aims are
to support The Conservative Party.
