Indias film & entertainment
industry is the largest in the world, producing
over for example 1,000 films annually. By 2008,
it is expected to gross £1.1 billion. More
importantly, over 50 per cent of each major film
is shot in an overseas location amounting
to around £60 million overseas expenditure
every year. 18 films were shot in UK alone by
Indian companies last year and the number will
rise. They dont just come here to film at
the local sites, but they are looking to use post-production
and studio areas in the UK also.
Gateway Asia is holding an
evening workshop to help build trade links with
the Indian film Indsutry. The workshop, hosted
by Ash Verma - CEO of Gateway Asia and featuring
Parminder Vir OBE Director of PVL Media Consultants,
will provide an opportunity for interaction as
well as exchanging information and knowledge via
a Q&A and networking. The aims of the seminar
are to highlight the business opportunities for
UK film companies in India; highlight the business
opportunities for Indian film companies in the
UK to market their products and services; develop
a pipeline and case load of SMEs looking for business
opportunities in India and other markets and contribute
to the development of the London Creative Industries.
