Business News-> Asian Women Entrepreneurs on the "inside track"

ASIAN WOMEN ENTREPRENERUS ON THE "INSIDE TRACK"
(8th September 2003)

Co-founder of DAWN, Parminder Vir (left) and guest.DAWN, the hub for dynamic Asian women, today announced the launch of its very first Entrepreneurs Programme. Heavily subsidised, the £50 five-session programme (worth £200 to other delegates) is designed to help Asian women develop new concepts and plan out potential business ideas under the guidance of some of the UK's leading strategists. Sessions run from October 4th to November 8th 2003.

The intensive and insightful programme of seminars and workshops takes place over five separate sessions, designed to motivate and give women the confidence to unlock the potential of their businesses. The five sessions will be hosted by leading figures from business and industry, all of whom will collectively provide expertise, advice and most importantly understanding to help Asian women develop a fresh and innovative new perspective for their business.

Vimmi Singh, co-founder of DAWN.Vimmi Singh, co-founder of DAWN and one of the session hosts for the Entrepreneurs Programme said of the event: "Day to day pressures produce situations where it is easy to lose sight of the 'bigger' picture for your business. We have developed a programme, which I am confident will provide perspective, 'time out' and a route map to help women get the most out of their business and ultimately their lives."

DAWN was founded by three dynamic Asian women, with the aim of opening doors for Asian women across the country. DAWN celebrates success and provides Asian women with a platform for them to connect, engage and explore ideas and opportunities.

The Entrepreneurs Programme, is the first 'Personal Development Programme' to be created by DAWN. It was developed in association with the Asian Business Institute (ABi) and the London Development Agency, and will provide women entrepreneurs with a fantastic opportunity to get under the skin of their business and forge out a path that they are completely in control of.

THE PROGRAMME

The Entrepreneurs Programme consists of five key sessions:

Session 1: Envisioning your business

The session covers the important area of discovering the passion and defining the big vision for a business whilst focusing on the strengths of the individual. This session injects the heart and soul into business and provides delegates with a toolkit to tailor ideas and structures to help initiate a unique route plan.

Session 2: Dynamics of a successful business

This session will help delegates translate their vision into a picture of the key resources that drive the performance of a business. Success is dependent upon an ability to build and maintain these resources into the future.

Session 3: Fuelling your business

Getting the most appropriate form of finance for a business can be daunting for entrepreneurs who are not finance experts. This session shows what is available so that delegates can see what might be most suitable for them.

Session 4: Leading & Managing your business

This session is designed to introduce the key concepts and issues associated with leading and managing a business. It focuses on providing insights into their own leadership skills, motivations and experiences. It then explores how insight and knowledge can be translated into business-problem solving.

Session 5: Creating your unique route plan

The aim is to set the business agenda for the next 12 months. The session covers the unscientific process of applying strategy, innovation and change to a business. It is an exercise in setting personal objectives, priorities and agenda based on one's unique skills and style along with business professionals and successful entrepreneurs.
