Educational Charity Pratham kick starts campaign to raise £1 million a year

The Pratham Indian Summer Garden Party took place last night at the Chelsea Conservatory to raise funds to help provide universal literacy in India by 2010. The event was the first fundraising event of the year to be hosted by Pratham UK and kick started the campaign to raise £1,000,000. Attendees includes business tycoon, L.N Mittal; artist MF Hussain and film director Gurinder Chadha.

Hindu charity Sewa International raises £10,000 for BBC Children in Need

On 27th June 2009, 50 supporters of Hindu charity, Sewa International, participated in a competitive sailing challenge in the Solent, the stretch of sea between Portsmouth & the Isle of Wight, raising £10,000 for the BBC Children in Need appeal. Among the volunteers was Vikas Pota, who could not swim before the sailing challenge!
